Our Faurecia Cockpit Technologies is looking for a Program Engineer to be based at its Faurecia Interiors Site at Auburn Hills, MI.
 
The Program Engineer is responsible for technical product definition and process feasibility, in line with program planning, quality and costs targets. He/she applies Group standards following the Faurecia Excellence System (FES) and uses Faurecia's Program Management System (PMS) to guide the concept and design detail of a product, tool and/or equipment. The main missions of the role are to:
  •     Main Tasks:                                                 
    • Responsible for the technical execution of the design of one or more parts (zone responsible)
    • Design of CAD models and drawings according to OEM specification, FIS standards, guidelines & methodology together with other function (DE, PTE, PDL, SPDE, GTS…)
    • Generate functional internal and customer drawings
    • Follow Faurecia Product Standards, Methodologies, Guidelines and PMS
    • Support the KPC identification and formalization.
    • Participate actively in the DFMEA session for his scope of parts responsibility
    • Meet Data quality standards according to requirements of customer and FIS standards and specifications.
    • Manage and ensure Quality and delivery of CAD (2D & 3D) in his zone   
    • Concept Development (design, function, part structure, assembly sequence, fixing and centering, ...) and documentation in cross section book, concept drawing and concept data files
    • Ensure product feasibility
    • Ensure Prototype and Serial design according to customer and FIS specifications and standards.  Ensure overall product “Design for Performance” (including implementation into CAD of inputs with regard to results of simulation, tests and validation to meet performance criteria) with engineering team
    • Definition of RPS & tolerance stack book (together with PPV as required) and collaborate on the geometrical convergence process  with Development Engineer and Geometry Center
    • Participate in design reviews and contribute to the global product performance
    • Follow D&D processes and maintain appropriate documentation (Open Issues List, PDCA, CMI,…)
    • Assign design work to Design team through appropriated methods (Work orders, DTask,…)
    • Definition and Implementation in CAD data GD&T together with DE and Geometry
    • Develop Lessons learned and Technical Report documentation as required by  PMS Deliverables for potential implementation in FIS standards. Communicate the documentation to  D&D team leader / GTS team.
    Project Management:
    • Compliance with program timing for the completion of design and drawings
    • Create product and component CAD data in PDM ( Maintain responsibility of CAD data management)
    • Collaborate in product Engineering Change Requests. Maintain responsibility for the technical implementation of the changes..)
    • Validate the work results of the Design team
    • Negotiate with engineering team on matters relating to delivery date, deliverables and billable hours
    • Support PPDRs/FMEs and contribute to achievement of Faurecia Engineering Milestones as well as Customer Program Milestones.
    Additional responsibilities of a PDE in FTCI:
    • Define training needs for CAD and Design engineers (Only in FTCI)
    • Leave approvals, define and conduct STAR for Design engineers
    • Track the team performance and define corrective actions
    • Ensure time sheet approvals in accordance with invoicing procedures
    • Track performance of Design Engineers and provide feedback to Design Team Leader on improvement plan
     
     
    Individual Tasks:
    • Ability to manage and animate a team (DE,PDE,GTS, PTE, Trainee…) for experienced Product Design Engineer’s
    • Ability to train/coach a new employee

    Skills

    • Knowledge of Automotive OEM specifications, regulations and legislations
    • Knowledge of benchmarking, management information, standards and methodologies of FIS
    • Able to interpret CAE simulation and testing results for optimization of Design
    • Autonomous in defining RPS, tolerance stack, Fit and finish in line with Development Eng. and Geometry Center
    • Autonomous in Concept Development (design, function, part structure, assembly sequence, DFA, fixing and locating) and documentation in cross section book, drawing and 3D concept
    • Able to define functional (Internal) drawings and customer drawings
    • Problem solving skills, QRCI, 8D, PDCA
    • Knowledge of FIS core manufacturing technologies (injection, welding, fixing, covering…)
    • Should be able to plan and execute design activities within his team
    • Meets the requirements of the Engineering Profile for the function (mandatory trainings related to PDE function
The ideal candidate will have/be:
  • Engineering Bachelor degree/Diploma or Technician, or significant professional experience
  • Minimum 2 years experiences in product design in automotive interior design (Recommended)
  • Worked on minimum 2 complete program design lifecycle as Design Engineer (Recommended)
  • Meets the requirements of the Engineering Profile for the function (mandatory trainings)
  • Prior experience of 1 - 2 years in CAD Software (CATIA / NX, etc.)
  • English required, and customer’s language strongly encouraged
  • Knowledge of Program Management & D-FMEA
  • Knowledge on PDM systems (Enovia, TCE, …)
  • Significant experience on design of interiors plastic products mainly on Automotive Industry
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Able to work in a multicultural environment
